The first week of classes: exhilarating and exhausting. I haven't reread the NYT article yet, nor have I had a minute to go back over the 4C's and NCTE election rules. But I will.
In the meantime, if you haven't been reading Steven Krause's posts about the events at EMU, you should. As faculty at Eastern Michigan University go out on strike over labor issues, Steve has been writing about the experience with a clear eye and engaged heart.
And I'll bet you've seen this article in Inside Higher Ed (yet another article in the "Saturday" stack for me). If you haven't read it yet, do. I'll be weighing in on Monday with my thoughts and I'd like to hear yours.
Finally, Clancy Ratliff reminds us via the techrhet newsletter that Kairosnews , the Kairos blog, contains news, reactions and musings from those of us in the techrhetcomp field(s). Kairosnews is one of those places I visit during the school year to see what's going on outside the rabbit warren I call my office, and I can't say enough good things about the site.
Have a great weekend, friends.
