Let's welcome Linda Adler Kassner, who teaches at Eastern Michigan University and has written extensively on composition and academe. In one of her first posts, Linda writes about the Spelling Commission, which has been tasked by the government to look at higher ed and determine what needs fixing, or, as its title suggests, engage us in "A National Dialogue: The Secretary of Education's Commission on the Future of Higher Education."
I won't reproduce her post here-- I'd much rather you go to her blog, BrownDogsBlog, and read what she's begun: however, I would urge you to take her advice and write to your senators and congressmen and let them know your feelings about the commission and its aims.
